Kwara State Deputy Governor Kayode Alabi has lost his mother Ena Alabi.
Mrs Alabi, a Jamaican-born Nigerian by citizenship and marriage, died early Friday aged 98.
She retired as a senior matron at the Maternity Hospital, Amilegbe, Ilorin, Kwara State capital in 1980, ending decades of professional service as a health service provider and caregiver.
Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, in a condolence message, described Mrs Alabi as a humanist per excellence who served her community with her talents and rich network.
“On behalf of the Abdulrazaqs, the government and people of Kwara State, the governor sends his heartfelt condolences to the deputy governor and his siblings on this huge loss of a faithful mother,” a condolence message signed by the governor’s chief press secretary Rafiu Ajakaye read.

The governor asked God to repose her soul and help the family stay strong and united through the mourning period and after.
Also, the Emir of Ilorin Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari commiserated with Alabi over the death of his mother.
Sulu-Gambari, in a statement signed by his spokesman Abdulazeez Arowona, urged the deputy governor and his siblings to find solace in the fact that their mum lived an examplary life worthy of praises, emulation and commendations.
The Emir described the deceased as an embodiment of peace and motherhood.
