Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri joined associates on Friday in singing praise and worship after his election was affirmed by the Supreme Court.
The governor, who was in the company of his Osun State counterpart Ademola Adeleke at the time of the court’s ruling, was congratulated by all who were with them.
Ruling unanimously, a five-member panel of the apex court said the appeal filed by Timipre Sylva, candidate of the All Progressives Congress in the poll held on November 11, 2023, lacked merit.
Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba read the lead judgment.
The tribunal and Court of Appeal earlier affirmed Diri, the PDP’s candidate, as winner of the election.
