Pep Guardiola has created Premier League record after scooping a fourth successive Manager of the Month award.
The Catalan has been a dominant force in the English top-flight this season, with his Manchester City team sweeping aside all before them.
City has opened up a 15-point lead at the top of the table, with the return of a domestic crown to the Etihad Stadium now considered to be a formality.
The history books have been rewritten as the unbeaten Blues have continued to march relentlessly forward, with Guardiola adding his own name to that roll of that honour after being recognised as the cream of the coaching crop for December.
City said in a statement released on their official website to honour the achievement of their manager: “It is the first time in the history of the monthly award that a manager has won it four successive times.
“Pep also landed the honour in September, October and November as his unbeaten side continue to receive praise from all corners.
“City won seven and drew one of the eight domestic matches last month, with only Crystal Palace holding the Blues in the Premier League while a much-changed City side were beaten by Shakhtar.
“The Blues scored 19 goals in December and bagged four on three different occasions and saw off Spurs, West Ham, Bournemouth, Newcastle, Swansea, Leicester and Manchester United.
“Congratulations to Pep and his backroom staff on yet another award.”
While their manager ran away with the top accolade, no City player was deemed good enough for the individual prize.
Instead, it was Tottenham’s Harry Kane, who picked the Player of the Month honour.
