Germany midfielder, Ilkay Gundogan, has been ruled out of Euro 2016 after sustaining a serious knee injury in training, Borussia Dortmund announced on Friday.
The German playmaker dislocated his knee cap and is set to be out of action for lengthy duration on the sidelines.
“Season end and Euro out. Gundogan dislocated his knee cap in training,” Dortmund tweeted.
“Get well soon.”
The 25-year-old has been linked with a summer move to Manchester City, and a deal has reportedly been agreed by all concerned parties.
Dortmund are five points behind leaders Bayern Munich with two matches left to play in the Bundesliga.
He will also miss the season-ending German Cup final encounter with Bayern Munich on May 21 in Berlin.
Gundogan missed the 2014 World Cup with a back injury which kept him out of action between August 2013 and October 2014.
