Unidentified gunmen on Monday abducted a pregnant woman in Irhiri along Airport Road, Benin, Edo State while she was taking her two children to school.
It was gathered that Uju Okwudili who is near her delivery date was abducted in the presence of her husband.
Eyewitnesses say she was forced into an Audi 80 car and the car sped off towards Ogba River.
“The whole thing happened very fast and we were all taken by surprise. The kidnappers were armed and it was impossible to help,” a resident said.
It was learnt that the gunmen have contacted the family and demanded N 5 million ransom.
When contacted, Edo police spokesman Chidi Nwabuzor told the news media that the case had not been reported to the police.
