A robbery incident occurred early Wednesday on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, forcing motorists to abandon their vehicles.
The robbery occurred between 5am and 6:15am on the Long Bridge, near Warewa bus stop.
Robberies are frequent occurrences on the expressway.
An eyewitness simply named Abayomi told PUNCH, “There was a robbery and because of the robbery, people out of fear began to run. Some people hit the cars of others.”
Abayomi, who was a bus passenger at the time of the robbery on Long Bridge, added that he learnt someone died in the incident.
Abayomi said the police did not respond to distress calls quickly.
The divisional police officer at the Warewa Police Station, Abdulfathai Ogunsanya told the newspaper that nobody was killed in the incident.
“A vehicle was shattered and the person involved is in the hospital receiving treatment as we speak,” he said.
