Former chairman of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Chidi Odinkalu has described as ‘dreadful’ the comparison Hafsat Abiola-Costello made about her father Moshood Abiola (MKO) and presidential aspirant Yahaya Bello.
Abiola-Costello, who is the director-general of Bello’s presidential campaign organisation, had said on Arise TV on Monday that Bello and her father bore some similarities such as wanting the best for the country.
Abiola-Costello’s comments did not come without pushback from her half-sister Tundun, an anchor on Arise TV, who said their late father should be left out of Bello’s campaign.
Commenting on Abiola-Costello’s statement, Odinkalu tweeted on Tuesday, “It is difficult to watch this performance by @hafsatKind without feeling a desperate sense of sorrow & disappointment bordering on shame.
“This is both saddening & pretty dreadful. This was supposed to be about #YahayaBello not about #MKO & Kudirat. No?”
Meanwhile, Bello, who is currently Kogi State governor, has called his campaign slogan ‘Hope 2023’ which is similar to the one used by Abiola during the 1993 presidential election campaign.
