Headies nominee Favour Anosike, popularly known as Ugoccie, left guests singing her praises after her performance at The Lagos Constellation of Stars nominees party.
The event organised by the Lagos State Government in collaboration with Headies Awards was held over the weekend at the State House Marina in Lagos.
Ugoccie performed her hit single ‘Do You Really Like Me’, which earned her applause from Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the first lady and other invitees.
Others who also performed at the event include fellow rapper Blaqbonez, Vector and headies nominee for best vocals Liya.
The Abia-born artiste, formerly known as Itootok, broke into the Nigerian music mainstream with her release of ‘Do You Really Like Me’ which was a cover of Rotimi‘s ‘In My Bed’.
She has produced covers and renditions of songs by popular artiste like Davido, Kizz Daniel, Wizkid, Olamide and Tekno.
The Igbo rapper was nominated for Rookie of the Year at the 15th Headies Award alongside AV, Fave, Magixx and Portable.
Speaking in an interview with Punch about her hit song ‘Obi Cubana’, the former on-air personality said the song was inspired by the experiences of those who attended socialite Obi Cubana’s mother’s burial.
She said: “I write songs off the stories I hear about other people’s experiences. So, the experiences of the people that went for the burial were all I curated into a song.”
The ‘Do You Really Like Me’ singer also stated that meeting top producer, Don Jazzy, was an unforgettable experience. She said, “I would never be able to explain how I felt. It was a humbling moment for me. My legs shook. I really felt elated. Don Jazzy has been in the music game for a long time and hearing him say I was talented and had so much to offer was just ‘epic’ for me. It’s unforgettable.”
