Former Miss Nigeria Helen Prest has penned touching words in celebration of her late partner Dr Tosin Ajayi on his third posthumous birthday.
Ajayi was the founder and managing director of First Foundation Medical Centre, Lagos until his death at St Nicholas Hospital, Lagos on April 26, 2020.
The ex-beauty queen on Wednesday used the occasion of Ajayi’s posthumous birthday to teach her followers on Instagram the importance of saying ‘sorry’ and humbly facing the consequences of their actions.
Stating first how she is always unprepared for March 1 due to fewer days in February, she wrote, “The first few years of marriage, (and I say years ‘cos that’s how slow I was to learn the lesson), always began the day with me begging for forgiveness…I had forgotten. That’s how I learnt that you don’t say sorry once and all is forgiven, you have to say it a million times, with the added intermittent ‘Oh! so you can remember you want to travel, but you can’t remember my birthday?…selfish girl’ Needless to say March 1st is seared into my brain.”
Prest added, “The moral of this story is that it’s not enough to just say sorry. You must be prepared to face the consequences with humility (don’t blow up, keep saying sorry, you are in the wrong) and learn the lesson.”
The 63-year-old was first married to businessman Jimmy Davies. She had a daughter with the late Ajayi.
