Music executive Ubi Franklin has praised president Bola Tinubu’s New Year speech, describing it as the most reassuring address he has heard from any Nigerian leader in his lifetime.
In an Instagram Story on Thursday, Franklin acknowledged the current economic difficulties Nigerians are facing but expressed hope for a brighter future.
“See this man? He is the only president in my lifetime that has the most assuring speech from any Nigerian president.
“Things might be crazy for us as a country, but for some reason, I believe it will get better sooner than we think,” Franklin wrote.
However, the post sparked backlash, prompting Franklin to clarify his comments.
“Make una no abuse me o. But check it this way, if someone at the wheel is telling ‘I’ve got this’ and he is your president, and you are not the president, there’s nothing you can do than to say, ‘okay sir, we trust you to handle it’,” he added.
Franklin urged Nigerians to show patience as the nation navigates through its challenges, praying that the country’s leadership understands the importance of citizens’ patience.
In his New Year address, President Tinubu laid out plans to tackle the country’s economic issues, including a new national living wage and progress on energy projects.
He also emphasised unity and collective effort as key to building a better future for Nigeria.
