Actress Hilda Dokubo has been appointed the acting chairman of the River State chapter of the party about a week to the governorship and state assembly elections rescheduled for March 18.
National chairman of the party Julius Abure announced this in a statement on Thursday following the dissolution of the caretaker committee led by Dienye Pepple.
The LP dissolved the Pepple-led committee for endorsing the governorship candidate of the PDP Sim Fubara without approval from the national leadership of the party.
The party added that the state exco was axed for gross anti-party activities and corruption in the management of the party’s funds.
Abure said others to join Dokubo are Philip Loveday as secretary and Gogo Wellington as publicity secretary.
Abure added that the appointment letter was for one month.
He enjoined “all Obidients and Labour Party members to cooperate with them in the discharge of their duties to ensure the unity of all of us which will translate to our victory in the coming election.”
