Winner of Big Brother Africa 2011 Karen Igho has expressed gratitude to Nigerians for their support, revealing that she is now “born again” days after she initiated a $50,000 GoFundMe campaign.
The campaign aims to raise funds for housing and legal fees as she fights to regain custody of her children.
The reality TV star took to Instagram on Sunday, sharing clips of herself at St. James Catholic Church in Manhattan, New York where she thanked her fans and supporters for their continued encouragement.
“Hello everybody, my name is Karen Igho. Thank you for all your support and love. Thank you for everything you’ve done—keep supporting me, and God bless you. Today I came to St. James church in Manhattan,” she said in the video.
In another post, Karen revealed that she has become born again having taken communion for the second time in the church following her baptism.
She captioned the post, “Hello everyone, thank you for your love and support. May my Heavenly Father bless you.”
This follows the launch of her GoFundMe campaign the previous week where Karen shared a video detailing her struggles.
She revealed that she is homeless and in urgent need of help. The mother of two also expressed her determination to regain custody of her children from her estranged husband Yaroslav Rakos.
Her plea for help came shortly after she disclosed the difficulties of her divorce proceedings, accusing Rakos of physical and sexual abuse.
Karen further alleged that her husband is trying to take custody of their children by falsely claiming she is mentally unstable. She called on the public to hold Rakos accountable if anything happens to her.
The Big Brother Africa star’s revelations have since sparked concern among her followers who have expressed their solidarity and support for her online.
Karen and Yaroslav Rakos were married in 2014 in Jos, Plateau State after a nine-year relationship.
They share two children together.
