Businessman Tajudeen Owoyemi has been installed as the third Asiwaju of Offa in Kwara State.
His wife Riuanatu Owoyemi was also installed on Saturday as Yeye Asiwaju of Offa.
Owoyemi, who was installed by Olofa of Offa Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi, succeeds the late J. S. Olawoyin and late Chief Emmanuel Adesoye respectively.
Prominent traditional rulers who were present at the installation include the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi; Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi; Oba Saheed Elegushi of Ikateland in Lagos; Oniru of Iruland, Oba Omogbolahan Lawal; and Emir of Lafiagi in Kwara State Mohammed Kudu.
In his brief sermon, chief imam of Offa Sheikh Muideen Hussein urged the people to remember their community by bringing their investments to their roots and use their wealth to develop the people.
Hussein urged those who hold political positions to always remember the people when they are in power.
Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq congratulated Owoyemi in a statement, saying the recognition highlights Owoyemi’s excellent contributions to the growth of not just his community but the state as a whole.
Owoyemi is the chairman, Avalon Intercontinental Nigeria Limited, owners of Avalon Hotel, Offa, Radisson Blu, Ikeja and Park Inn, Victoria Island, Lagos.
