A woman identified on Twitter as Jom Jom with the handle @jommieP has alleged that hospitals now ask for N6million deposit before treating COVID-19 patients.
Although, she did not back up her claim, the woman alleged the money charged as deposit was non-refundable.
“Hospitals are now requesting for 6 million naira deposit to treat Covid patient with breathing issues !!!!!wear ur damn mask!!!!!! And yes it’s non refundable!!!!!” she tweeted on Sunday night.
Nigeria is witnessing a spike in the number of COVID-19 cases as the world battles what has been termed the second wave of the deadly virus.
More than 1,500 persons have died of the disease in Nigeria, according to figures from the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control.
