Actress Kate Henshaw has addressed those criticising her for hosting a fundraiser for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The 52-year-old and her colleague Okey Bakassi came under fire on social media after a video of them hosting a fundraising dinner for Imo State governor Hope Uzodimma for the latter’s re-election on Thursday night went viral.
While some defended the actress, others argued that Kate who campaigned for Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi in the 2023 election should not have hosted a dinner for an opposition party.
Reacting to the backlash on Friday, Kate in a post via X, formerly known as Twitter, said she was invited to host the fundraiser by her colleague and she accepted.

Speaking further, Kate said that she will continue to speak her truth as she sees fit.
She wrote: “Someone called me this morning to check the X app. I was invited to host a fundraiser alongside my colleague. I accepted. My prerogative. What is the noise about? The difference btw you and I is that I will still speak my truth as I see fit. End of.”
