The death of singer Aduke Gold has thrown the gospel industry into mourning.
Aduke’s demise was initially shared on Instagram by fellow gospel artiste Esther Igbekele on Tuesday.
The exact cause of Aduke’s death remains unclear.
However, Ibadan-based broadcaster Yemi Sonde, an associate of the deceased, has said that the singer tragically passed away during surgery.
Sonde during his broadcast on Tuesday recounted the late singer’s journey, shedding light on the trials and triumphs that shaped her career.
He spoke of how gospel music veteran Tope Alabi discovered Aduke’s talent, nurturing her and giving her the name Aduke Gold.
The broadcaster also highlighted the role played by Senator Michael Bamidele who sponsored the deceased’s education and provided guidance after she became an orphan at the age of four.
Recalling the moment he learned of her passing, Sonde described his disbelief, sharing how he frantically called her phone multiple times, hoping the news was false.
“I was about to sleep around 12 in the midnight when I saw the news on social media. I could not believe it. I then picked my phone to call Aduke Gold. I called her like six times, but she did not pick up,” said Sonde.
He concluded by disclosing that what claimed Aduke Gold’s life was a fibroid operation.
“She went to do fibroid operation like any other woman but she could not come out of the theatre alive. It is painful,” he remarked.
Aduke Gold died on Monday at the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
