Disc Jockey Big N has shared a harrowing account of being ambushed and attacked by armed assailants in Johannesburg, South Africa.
In an Instagram post on Tuesday, Big N revealed the chilling details of the incident, which took place on January 12.
The DJ explained that he was en route to a club with an acquaintance when their vehicle was suddenly surrounded by two cars carrying six armed men with automatic rifles at a traffic light.
In the chaos, Big N said he tried to flee but was shot in the leg.
One of the attackers then pressed a rifle to his head, demanding his watch, chain, and other valuables.
Despite being heavily wounded, Big N managed to return to the car, where the driver rushed him to the nearest hospital.
Doctors later confirmed that the bullet had passed through his leg, narrowly missing a major artery and bone.
They described his survival as “miraculous,” and Big N attributed his recovery to divine intervention and his mother’s prayers.
Reflecting on the traumatic experience, Big N described it as the “worst and most teachable experience” of his life.
He said it changed his perspective on what truly matters. “I realised material possessions mean nothing,” he stated.
“Life is fragile, and validation is meaningless. I’m committed to living more authentically and appreciating life without unnecessary stress.”
Despite losing over $114,000 worth of valuables, Big N emphasised the lesson he learned from the ordeal: “God gave me another chance, and I’m focused on what matters most.”
The DJ also expressed gratitude for the kindness he experienced in South Africa, noting that while bad experiences can happen anywhere, they don’t define a place.
He concluded by assuring fans that he was recovering well: “I stopped using the crutches two days after and I’m feeling much better now.”
His ordeal comes after his appearance on skit maker Isbae U’s Curiosity Made Me Ask in December 2024, where he shared insights into his life and career.
