Singer Adekunle Gold has finally opened up about his battle with sickle cell.
The 37-year-old stated that he was diagnosed with sickle cell at birth during his latest performance at a concert, where he paid tribute to sickle cell survivors.
In a now trending video on the internet, he expressed gratitude to God for a successful career and global recognition without significant health setbacks. He encouraged those with similar health challenges to remain resilient and determined to pursue their life goals.
The singer, however, dedicated his performance of the song “5 Star” to sickle cell survivors.
“I grew up with sickle cell, I was born with sickle cell, all my life fought with it but I am thankful that I was able to manage it. I’m everywhere playing shows, I don’t fall sick. So this is reaching out to everybody going through it having to deal with the crisis, it should never stop you,” he said before his performance.
Adekunle Gold is married to fellow singer Simi. They have a daughter together.
