For the second time in two years, billionaire businessman Kessington Adebutu has lost a wife in the month of January.
The recent loss occurred on January 19 with the passing of his first wife Dame Caroline Adebutu.
Formally announcing his wife’s death in an advertorial, Adebutu, popularly known as Baba Ijebu said “I announce with mixed feelings of utmost grief and profound gratitude to the Supreme Lord for a fulfilled Christian life of the peaceful transition of our much-cherished matriarch, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Dame Caroline Oladunni Adebutu, which inevitable event occurred on Thursday, January 19, 2023.
“May her soul merit the bosom of the Supreme Lord, amen.”
Born to the Jaiyesimi family of Odogbolu, Ogun State, the deceased was the mother of Ladi Kessington-Adebutu, governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State.
She was also the Yeyeoba of Odogbolu and Yeyemode of Iperu.
Among those who sent messages of condolence to Adebutu on his wife’s death is the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.
“I enjoin you to take heart and accept her demise as the will of Almighty God.
“Please take solace in the fact that Dame Adebutu lived a fulfilled Christian life and left behind equally worthy children.
“I am particularly happy that like you, the milk of human kindness flowed freely in her. She impacted many lives through her humanitarian activities,” Tinubu said in his condolence message.
Dame Comfort Adebutu’s death came exactly two years and 10 days after her husband lost his second wife Rosemary Adebutu.
The Edo-born socialite died at a Lagos hospital on January 9, 2021 after a brief illness.
She was the mother of Temitope Adebutu, who got married to Olujonwo Obasanjo, son of former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2017.
Olaide Adebutu, another wife of the lotto magnate, died in 2017 and was buried at Vaults and Gardens in Ikoyi.
