Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan is in the race for the Female World Athlete of the Year.
The 25-year-old became the first Nigerian nominated for the prize for breaking the 100m hurdles world record in the World Championships semi-finals in Oregon, USA in July, before winning the world title two hours later.
There are 10 women competing in the female category of the World Athlete of the Year just as there are 10 men in the male category.
A three-way voting process will determine the five women’s and five men’s finalists.
The process is broken down as World Athletics Council (50%), World Athletics family (25%) and a fan vote (25%) via Facebook, Instagram and YouTube likes and Twitter retweets on the post for the specified athlete.
Voting closes at the end of October 31, after which the finalists will be named and winners announced in early December.
