Celebrity disc jockey DJ Cuppy on Friday said although she is not directly affected by the controversial Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) of the Nigeria Police Force, she feels the need to speak on the issue.
Several parts of the country especially Lagos and Abuja have been swept by a wave of protests all week for an end to SARS.
However, in response to backlash from Nigerians over her silence on the issue, Cuppy tweeted: “I would be lying if I said I’m DIRECTLY affected by SARS.
“But a lot of my Cupcakes are and that’s enough for me to care. I stand behind the movement to #EndPoliceBrutality AND #EndSARS.”
Born Ifeoluwa Otedola, Cuppy apologised for taking too long to join the movement.
The 27-year-old is currently in Dubai, UAE.
