Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, has condemned xenophobic attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

The recent attacks began last week after a taxi driver was murdered by an alleged drug dealer in Pretoria.

Speculations that the alleged killer was a Nigerian sparked protest, looting and burning of business centres owned by foreigners.

Three Nigerians were said to have been killed in the process with scores injured.

Mr Kanu said in a tweet on Tuesday that he condemned the attacks despite his desire to see Biafra exit Nigeria as an independent state.

He accused President Muhammadu Buhari of being silent on the issue.

“I condemn in totality the xenophobic attacks in South Africa. Even as I seek #BiafraExit from Nigeria, I rise in defence of ALL victims of this shameful carnage, and I demand an immediate stop to it. As usual, The Jubril Cabal is silent, the victims belong to the hated 5%,” he said.
