Ayomikun Alabi, daughter of gospel singer Tope Alabi, has dismissed attempts by her biological father Mayegun Olaoye to claim her as his child.
Speaking in an interview with PUNCH, the 22-year-old said her mother’s husband Soji Alabi is the only father she knows.
Ayomikun, who was born before her mum’s marriage to Alabi stated that she does not recognise Olaoye as her biological father.
Olaoye had recently gone on social media to claim the young lady as his child, accusing Tope of changing the surname she was given at birth.
“I cannot bear his surname. How can I bear the surname of someone that I have never met? There is no sense in that. I do not even know his surname,” she said.
“I know and will always know that my father is Soji Alabi. I don’t know any other person and never met any other man. I cannot blatantly deny him because I have heard about him.”
Ruling out any chance of making peace with her biological father, Ayomikun added that “I will definitely want to meet him in court if he ever wants to talk.”
She denied Olaoye’s claim that Tope Alabi blocked him from having a relationship with her, saying the singer tried for her to have a relationship with him when she was 15.
“God knows my real father and everyone knows who my real father is.
“I did not know this man (Olaoye) when I was in the crèche, daycare, primary and secondary schools or during my university days.
“I graduated and did not get a congratulatory message (from him). (I got) absolutely nothing from him.”
Ayomikun graduated from Bowen University on November 7.
