The new Minister of Interior, Rauf Aregbesola, has said that he does not have any knowledge of the ministry he was given to manage.
Aregbesola, a former governor of Osun State, said this on Wednesday when he visited the ministry shortly after he was inaugurated and given the portfolio.

Aregbesola, like other ministers, was assigned his portfolio at the end of the Presidential Retreat for ministers-designate, presidential aides and other top government functionaries at the State House in Abuja.
The new minister said all he knew about the ministry were things he read in newspapers.
“My relationship with the ministry is distant. What I know about the ministry is what I read in the newspapers,” he said.
Aregbesola, however, told the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Georgina Ehuriah, who had been in charge since the dissolution of the last cabinet, to continue running the ministry until he formally takes over on Monday.

“I will come to take over on Monday. I give the Permanent Secretary the grace to run the ministry till then. We will be ready by Monday to take on the huge assignment,” he said.
The former governor promised the ministry’s workforce “a realistic, reasonable and commendable leadership” adding that he would be demanding more from them.
