I don’t sell okrika, Sylvester Madu backtracks two years after confirming

Actor Sylvester Madu, popularly known as Shina Rambo, has denied claims that he sells okrika (fairly used clothes), following the resurfacing of a viral video that sparked speculations about his business.

In a 2023 video that made rounds on social media, the 50-year-old was seen selling clothes laid out on the floor at a market in Enugu.

However, in a recent interview with media personality Patience Yisa, Madu clarified that the clothes seen in the video were not okrika, insisting he deals in brand-new imported wear.

“First of all, I don’t sell okrika. Those clothes I was filmed selling are not necessarily okrika because they were on the floor. I don’t sell okrika. I import from the U.S.,” he said.

The actor also revealed that he owns multiple shops and employs several people who help manage the business, adding that he often joins in the sales personally.

“I have multiple shops and I have boys who sell for me. I don’t do big man, I go to the field to sell by myself. I have a lot of people selling for me. I have different shops. I monitor my business. I have been doing this business for over 30 years.”

Interestingly, in 2023, Madu had openly acknowledged selling okrika to support his family, using it as a teaching moment during a Father’s Day message on Instagram.

“You see that video, that man in that video, that’s the epitome of a father who is working hard for his children’s future,” he said at the time.

“Yes, that man you see out there, he’s in the cold, he’s wearing that jacket, not feeling too well. But he still has to come out to do something legitimate for his children’s future. And that’s what I’m doing.”

Madu praised fathers striving to leave a legacy for their families, quoting the Bible to drive home his point.

“And like the Bible says, a good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children. God bless you all, chao!”
