Singer Inetimi Odon, popularly known as Timaya, has once again made it clear that he is not interested in dating Nigerian women, especially those active on social media.
The 44-year-old, who has repeatedly expressed a preference for foreign women, restated his stance in a video shared by celebrity interior designer Ehi Ogbebor.
In the clip, originally posted on Ehi’s Instagram stories, she playfully suggested that the singer might be in need of a companion after he joked about being “on the streets.”
Reacting swiftly, Timaya dismissed the idea, stressing that he was not looking for a girlfriend—particularly not from Nigeria.
He further backed up his statement by making a popular Nigerian gesture: rotating both arms over his head and snapping his fingers to show strong disapproval.
The video has since gone viral, with many social media users weighing in on the issue.
One fan wrote, “A boyfriend in Nigeria has more responsibilities than a father of three in the USA.”
Another added, “U like it or not, Naija women remain the best women.”
A user also commented, “Nigeria girls and billing. They will stop talking to you or you become a bad person once you say you don’t have. Someone stopped talking to me because I didn’t give her money to take her mum to the hospital—and it was the same period I was burying my own mum.”
Another person remarked, “Go marry the one that will take all your properties and money… una never learn.”
This isn’t the first time Timaya has addressed his dating preferences.
In an earlier interview with Beat FM Lagos, the Dem Mama singer explained that he avoids Nigerian women because of the emotional and cultural tension he believes often comes with dating them.
He said, “I can’t date a Nigerian lady because we have the same foundation, the same upbringing. The relationship go be like police and thief. It will be too toxic. We go dey lie for each other too much. We won’t even have peace.”
