Omowunmi Aloba, widow of late singer Mohbad, has revealed that she found out about her husband’s burial on the Internet.
Mohbad, born Ilerioluwa Aloba, died on September 12, 2023. Less than 24 hours later, his father, Joseph Aloba, buried him in Ikorodu, Lagos.
Speaking with media personality Chude Jideonwo, Omowunmi said she was not informed about the burial arrangements and that her father-in-law initially wanted to bury Mohbad the same night he passed away.
“There’s a nurse involved in this case. He [Mohbad] reacted to an injection. The night my husband died, my father-in-law came to the house and the nurse narrated everything that happened to him. My husband’s manager wanted to get the nurse arrested but my father-in-law asked us to let the nurse go.
“A lot of people begged my father-in-law not to bury my husband’s body that night, but he insisted. In fact, even the day they wanted to bury him, he didn’t inform me. I got to know online,” she said.
Omowunmi also alleged that her father-in-law and an unidentified woman attempted to kidnap her son, Liam, on the day of Mohbad’s burial.
“It still feels like my husband is alive. He is in Yaba morgue. He has not been buried. So sad. He has been ‘pieced’ twice,” she added.
Mohbad’s body was exhumed on September 21 for an autopsy following controversies surrounding his death. The results are yet to be released.
His father has maintained that the late singer will not be reburied until all questions about his death are answered.
