A former commissioner for energy and mineral resources in Lagos State Wale Oluwo has said that he does not need the backing of former Lagos governor Bola Tinubu to defeat Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in the governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress.
Oluwo, chairman of the Akinwunmi Ambode Campaign Organisation, recently joined the governorship race in Lagos.
Asked in an interview with PUNCH published on Sunday if Ambode was in support of his aspiration, he said, “Absolutely, I am member of the Ambode Campaign Organisation.”
On having the support of Tinubu, he said, “No, I don’t. I don’t need it. I need the support of God and the people.”
Born in the Somolu area of Lagos, the 56-year-old said he has been preparing himself to serve the state since 2006 when he attempted to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives.
Oluwo noted that he could afford the N50 million governorship forms of the APC because he has reached the height of his career in the private sector.
He pointed out that he has been general manager, executive director, managing director and chairman of major companies.
“If they (APC) sold the forms for N200 million, based on the work I have done and the wealth I have created over 30 years, I could buy it,” he said.
