Queen Badirat Adeyemi, the estranged wife of the late Alaafin of Oyo Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, has revealed that she married the monarch at age 19.
Popularly known on social media as Queen Ola, Badirat said in an Instagram post on Monday that although she met the king at an impressionable age their relationship could be described with the word Siamese.
“The father of my kids, that I met at an impressionable age left when it was least expected. Whenever I tell people that the bond we share can be likened to that of a ‘Siamese’, having been married to you at age 19, they are more that transfixed,” she said.
“We were practically best of friends but the moment they had an inklings about whom your favorite was, everything flopped.”
Oba Adeyemi died last Friday in a hospital at the age of 83.
Queen Ola added that she does not know how to tell her children that their father had passed on.
“I’m bereft of what to tell the boys especially, Adejuwon, because at his age, he reads and and surf the net so much that curiosity gets hold of him and has already known a lot about you,” she said.
In December 2020, Queen Ola confirmed she moved out of the palace.
