Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has revealed that he met the late former governor of Oyo State, Abiola Ajimobi, in 1999.
In a condolence message on Friday shared on Twitter, Mr El-Rufai described the late governor as a ‘perfect gentleman’.
He said: “On behalf of my family, government and people of Kaduna, I want to express deep sadness at the death of my egbon, former Governor of Oyo, Sen Abiola Ajimobi. A perfect gentleman that I met in 1999 when NOLCHEM (now ConOil) was privatized. May his soul Rest In Peace.”
Ajimobi was the former managing director/chief executive officer of the National Oil and Chemical Marketing Company Plc (NOLCHEM), which was at the time a subsidiary of Shell Petroleum, Nigeria before it was privatised.
The two-term Oyo governor died on Thursday of multiple organs failure due to the coronavirus.
