Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu, born on November 4, 1933, was from Anambra State in southeastern Nigeria.

He joined the Nigerian Army in 1957, rising through the ranks to become the military governor of Eastern Nigeria in 1966.

Following the 1966 coup and the massacre of Igbos in the North, he declared Biafra’s secession in 1967, leading to the Nigerian Civil War.

After Biafra’s defeat in 1970, Ojukwu went into exile in Côte d’Ivoire, returning to Nigeria in 1982.

He later entered politics but did not achieve significant success. Ojukwu died on November 26, 2011, at the age of 78, after suffering a stroke.
