National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) executive director Shaibu Husseini, has paid tribute to Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the late founder of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA), on the second anniversary of her death.

In an emotional post on Instagram on Tuesday, Husseini shared a photograph of himself with the celebrated filmmaker, alongside a heartfelt message.

“Two years on… and it’s still like a dream! Miss you, Peace Marie Ogechi Anyiam-Osigwe aka Ada Nkwere @digitalpmoglobal,” he wrote.

Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, a prominent figure in the Nigerian entertainment industry, passed away on January 9, 2023, after falling into a coma two days earlier.

Fondly referred to as “the queen of Nollywood films,” Peace was a trailblazing filmmaker and entertainment executive.

She founded the Africa Movie Academy Awards, a globally recognised film ceremony that celebrates African cinema.

Her contributions extended beyond Nollywood, with The Guardian noting her pivotal role in showcasing Nigerian films at international film festivals.

She was also a Member of the Order of the Federal Republic (MFR), a national honor recognizing her significant impact on the arts.

Peace’s legacy remains influential in the African entertainment industry, as her initiatives continue to inspire filmmakers across the continent.
