Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has revealed that he once withdrew $10 million from the bank just to look at it and prove to himself that he was indeed rich.
Dangote made this revelation at the Mo Ibrahim Governance Weekend held in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
Dangote also said farming is not a poor man’s business and that one could actually get rich faster with farming.
In the video, which was shared on the YouTube page of Mo Ibrahim Foundation, Dangote said: “After a year or so, I realised that I had much more, and I said ‘Ok, fine, all these numbers are just written numbers’.
“One day I went to a bank, and at that time, there were no restrictions, and I wrote a cheque and cashed $10m from the bank and put it in the boot of my vehicle, and I went home and I opened it and I looked at $10m and I said ‘Now I believe I have money’.”
He added that he returned the money to the bank the following day.
He further said that Nigeria would be the largest exporter of cement in Africa by the end of 2019.
Dangote had last week issued a warning to governors in the northern region to sit up so as to end increasing rate of poverty in the North.
