Disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy has said she regrets saying yes to a marriage proposal from her ex-fiancé Ryan Taylor.
Speaking at a recent event abroad, the 31-year-old said she had now realised that it’s okay to say “No.”
She said, “One of the things I have learned is saying no. I had one of the worst years of my life last year because I couldn’t say no. I didn’t say no to opportunities that I should have said no to. I didn’t say no to a fiancé I should’ve said no to. I didn’t say no to taking things on.
“I was at the BBC; I had a morning breakfast show, then I was DJing, I was planning a wedding, I was in Oxford University. I burnt myself out. And none of us are either good to ourselves or other people when we burnt out. So, we have to deal with that guilt that comes with saying no. It’s okay to say no.”
Cuppy and Ryan parted ways in July 2023 barely seven months after their shocking engagement in November 2022.
Taylor proposed to the disc jockey at the Gumball Award night in Abu Dhabi.
