Actress Dayo Amusa has opened up about her journey to motherhood, revealing how she once gave God an ultimatum amid her struggles with infertility.
In an interview with colleague Debbie Shokoya, the 41-year-old recalled a moment of deep despair when she broke down in tears before her domestic staff.
She recounted how she cried out to God, singing at the top of her voice, unbothered by those around her.
“I remember I was singing at the deepest and top of my voice. I was crying so deeply, not minding that my maid and domestic workers were around,” she said.
“I told God, ‘Either you take my life at this moment or fulfill that promise you made to me.’ I was tired. I knew how many medical checkups I had gone through, how many surgeries I had undergone. If this was still meant to happen, I told God to let it happen. If not, He should take me.”
Dayo’s struggles with infertility took an emotional toll, especially after suffering three miscarriages.
She also revealed that her ex-husband abandoned her and got another woman pregnant during her battle with childlessness.
However, in November 2024, her prayers were answered with the birth of her son, Oluwafirewamiri.
Overjoyed, she described him as her greatest treasure and expressed gratitude to God for making her a mother.
Following her son’s naming ceremony, Dayo responded to questions about the child’s father, asking critics if their own husbands were missing.
She also shared her excitement about finally being called “someone’s mother.”
Days before Christmas, she reflected on her struggles, emphasising that despite her past mistakes, having her son was the one thing she got right.
On Christmas Day, she posted matching photos with her baby, calling him her best gift and a complete blessing.
Dayo also prayed that she and her child’s father would serve as a good example for their son.
