Comedian Teju Babyface has revealed that he relocated to the United States with extraordinary ability visa.
The talk show host stated this in a recent interview with QEDNG publisher Olumide Iyanda, countering assumptions that he joined the japa train.
“Being legal in the country was easy. I came with what is known as exceptional ability visa because I am who I am,” he said.
“As I told you I had a US valid visa already in my passport. So, when they say japa I laugh at them. Japa is for people who had visiting visas and then ran away. Japa is not for me who had visiting visa going back 10 to 12 years and then applying for an exceptional ability visa in addition to my visiting visa.”
The 45-year-old stated that when he arrived the US with his family an immigration officer cancelled his visitor’s visa and that of his wife so they could stay on the exceptional ability visa alone.
Teju Babyface said several reasons informed his decision to move his family out of Nigeria. He said security was one of them, and also that he got tired of going to the US embassy for visa. He added that his sisters and mother are also resident in the US.
“First of all, I needed to get my family out I had become paranoid about the safety of my family,” he said, later revealing his wife was attacked in traffic on Eko Bridge.
