Gospel singer Chidinma Ekile has revealed that she was born blind on May 2, 1991.
Narrating her childhood in a video titled My Story and published on her YouTube channel, the musician said she was born without sight.
The video was posted on Tuesday to commemorate her 32nd birthday.
Chidinma, fondly called Miss Kedike by her fans, said she was miraculously healed her through her mother’s prayers.
“I was born blind actually, I didn’t open my eyes at all, and that became a challenge. My parents tried all that they could to get this baby (me) to see, everything they tried medically proved abortive and we had to resort to God,” she said.
“Here is my mum being a prayer warrior. She started praying all of a sudden, she started fasting, she started going to church, praying and I eventually opened my eyes, which was a miracle.”
The singer explained further that her eyes were red when she eventually opened them and it became another source of concern for her parents.
Chidinma said her mum promised to give her back to God if he could help solve that problem.
“That’s where church comes in. She started taking me to church. It became a tradition for us to go to church together. Without my knowledge, my mum apparently made a deal with God,” she said.
Chidinma switched to gospel music in 2021 after being initially known for secular songs.
