Big Brother Naija star Nina Ivy has revealed that she was in coma for two weeks after the birth of her son Denzel.
The 28-year-old revealed this in an Instagram post on Monday while narrating motherhood experience, three days after celebrating the boy’s fourth birthday.
Nina Ivy shared a photo of her stomach, writing, “This was my belly after I woke up from coma (2 weeks after Denzel’s birthday. They tore me up because they thought something was wrong with my intestines and that was the tube I was feeding on.”
Nina also disclosed that she had to get a tattoo to cover up the scar and she faced criticism over her decision because many were not aware she was operated on.
Celebrating her son who was born premature, the reality star wrote: “Big 4, Happy birthday Denzel, my baby the one after my heart. I finally have the Courage to tell your story, to give people strength and encouragement. On this day 4 years ago you came into this world at 6 months, (27 weeks), weighed only 2 pounds, was in coma for 2 weeks following your birth, feeding through a pipe coz wasn’t awake so I was surviving on fluids, they told my family that I might not make it out Alive and my chances of survival was 50/50, Denzel was in the Nicu fighting for his life and stayed in the Nicu for 4 months, was on ECMO life support machine and VENTILATOR (2 life support machines fighting for my life ).
“2 weeks later, I miraculously got up from coma, they told me my son was Alive, couldn’t believe it, had Denzel at home and had him all by myself before 911 emergency arrived was already out of life Cos contacted Covid and as a pregnant woman I was high risk, but Mercy said No.
“Doctor said Denzel won’t be able to walk meaning my son would be a crippled child, I said “my Son will Walk coz believe the report of the lord who made heaven and earth “. Look At Denzel today, a strong, smart boy ready to conquer the world. give God the glory for keeping us alive to see this day .Be nice and kind to people always because you don’t know what they are going through.”
Nina had her traditional wedding on February 15, 2020 in Imo state.
She welcomed her son Denzel in April 2020 instead of July.
