Talk show host, author and comedian Teju Babyface has said he was given the name king of talk because of legendary talk show host Larry King.
The 42-year-old made this statement while paying tribute to the talk show host in an Instagram post on Saturday.
Teju said he lost his mind when he was told he reminded a person of the young King.
“The Original and Real King of Talk bows out! Larry King is dead at 87. They started to call me the King of Talk in Nigeria because an authority in the broadcasting industry said I reminded him of a young Larry King.
“Now Larry joins Johnny in what I can only hope are the golden streets of the hereafter. Ah, time continues to take its toll and the legends keep strolling into the eternal sunset,” he wrote.
King hosted “Larry King Live” on CNN for over 25 years, interviewing presidential candidates, celebrities, athletes, movie stars and everyday people. He retired in 2010 after taping more than 6,000 episodes of the show.
The cause of death was not stated by King’s son. However, King battled a number of health problems. He had been hospitalised with Covid-19 in late December, according to CNN.
King also suffered personal loss last year when two of his adult children died within weeks of each other.
