Nollywood actor, Odunlade Adekola, who recently graduated from the University of Lagos (UNILAG) with a degree in business administration, has said he did not use his celebrity status for academic gain.
Speaking in an interview published by Punch on Sunday, the 39-year-old said he attended classes regularly and was known by other students.
“There was nothing like celebrity status. As long as we were in the classroom together, we were all one in our quest for knowledge. One should never get tired of seeking knowledge because the world is dynamic and ever-changing,” Odunlade said.
The actor also spoke about the highlights of his time in school, revealing that he had to be humble to learn.
Hear him: “Being in school was a really thrilling experience for me. I was humbled in the sense that I had to attend classes, do assignments, sit for exams and carry out other academic activities. I had a good relationship with all the lecturers that taught me and the students too.”
He also dismissed speculation that he did not attend classes and do assignments, insisting that he was steadfast as a student.
“I attended classes regularly and I did everything I was required to do. My course mates can testify. I was not a stranger to any of my course mates because I usually attended classes. I was the one who made the decision to go to school. I knew what it entailed and I was ready to adhere to the rules. I can tell you that I worked hard for my certificate,” he maintained.
Odunlade has starred in movies such as Alani Pamolekun, Asiri Gomina Wa, Mufu Olosa Oko, Oyenusi, Sunday Dagboru, Monday Omo Adugbo, Emi Nire Kan and Eje Tutu.
He has won the City People Entertainment Awards Best Actor of the Year in 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2015.
Before UNILAG, he had obtained a diploma certificate from the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ogun State.
