I was raped severally – Iyabo Ojo

Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo

Actress Iyabo Ojo has revealed she was a victim of rape on five occasions, sharing her experiences in an emotional interview with Biola Bayo on Talk to B.

Iyabo, known for her outspoken stance on social issues, expressed her frustration with rape apologists, maintaining her zero-tolerance for sexual violence.

The 47-year-old emphasised that she would confront any offender, including her own child.

“I was raped five times in my life. I discovered we have a lot of rape apologists. I don’t care who the person is; if that person is my son, I am going to come for him unapologetically,” she said.

The actress also delved into her challenging upbringing. She disclosed that her father struggled with addiction, which led to his death at 49.

Raised by her grandmother, Iyabo did not meet her mother until she was seven.

“My dad did everything—alcohol and drugs—so it messed him up at a young age. He died at 49. I grew up with my grandmother… I think I was seven before I knew my mother,” she said.

Iyabo addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding late singer Mohbad, claiming that she had never met Naira Marley, a central figure in the case.

She also referenced Mohbad’s father’s request for a DNA test for the late singer’s son, noting that the singer’s wife Wunmi, had agreed.

The mother of two further revealed her legal battle with colleague Lizzy Anjorin, who allegedly insinuated she had a hand in Mohbad’s death.

Iyabo stated she was unwilling to settle the case out of court, despite efforts from intermediaries.

“One of my colleagues insinuated I may have a hand in Mohbad’s death. That’s why I’m in court with her—Lizzy Anjorin.

“They have an intermediary trying to settle the case, but I’m not taking the settlement. This is my fight-to-finish year,” she declared.

On a lighter note, Iyabo praised her daughter’s fiancé, Juma Jux, calling him “well-raised” and blessing their relationship.

She added that the couple would tie the knot soon, though she withheld the date.

Iyabo’s latest remarks about Anjorin come months after both actresses announced they had reconciled their feud outside court.

In June 2024, videos online confirmed a settlement facilitated by a judge who urged them to embrace peace.

However, with Iyabo’s recent interview, it appears the truce may be short-lived.
