Actress Eniola Ajao has distanced herself from the arrest of controversial cross-dresser Bobrisky, insisting she had no involvement in the incident that occurred shortly after the premiere of her movie Beast of Two Worlds (Ajakaju) last year.

The 44-year-old clarified in an interview with Oyinmomo, where she addressed the backlash that followed her decision to crown Bobrisky “Best Dressed Female” at the star-studded event.

“I gave the best-dressed female award to Bobrisky to promote my movie, but I didn’t know that my colleagues would react negatively to it,” she said.

“I was very sad to see that my colleagues in the movie industry were fighting over the decision, and I later had to call them and explain what my intention was.”

Eniola also stressed that she shares a cordial relationship with Bobrisky and had no hand in his arrest.

“I don’t have any issue with Bobrisky, he knew why he was arrested, and no matter how I try to explain to people on social media, they won’t believe me. I have a very good relationship with Bobrisky, and he knows that I have always been a good friend to him.

“I wasn’t behind Bobrisky’s arrest, he was arrested because of money, and I always visit him. Many of his friends neglected him when he was arrested, but I stood by him.”

Bobrisky, who was crowned “Best Dressed Female” at the Ajakaju premiere in 2024, was picked up by security operatives just hours after the dramatic event.

The social media personality was later remanded by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of abuse of the naira and money laundering.

He was sentenced to six months in prison with no option of fine in after pleading guilty to charges of defacing the Nigerian currency.=
