Comedian Teju Babyface has named some A-list colleagues who shaped his career.
Speaking with QEDNG publisher Olumide Iyanda recently, the king of talk, as Teju Babyface is fondly called, said he would be nowhere without Basorge, Julius Agwu, Ali Baba and Tee-A.
“It was Basorge that formed the foundation of my entire comedy career,” the actor said.
He added that with the help of Basorge and Julius Agwu he featured in Night of A Thousand Laughs where he met Basketmouth.
Teju Babyface said he met Ali Baba at a show organised by Basketmouth in Benin City.
“So when Ali saw me there Basketmouth introduced me to Ali and that’s how Basketmouth and I started to work with Ali. I essentially graduated from the school of Basorge to the school of Ali and when I graduated from the school of Ali and I was now a full-blown comedian I moved not into the school of Tee-A but into the company of Tee-A,” he said.
“Whatever Ali Baba taught me as a mentor it was Tee-A that helped me cement it as a professional. so I didn’t go to Tee-A as a mentee, I went to him as a colleague.”
The 45-year-old noted that Tee-A had a structure already so he used his offices, drove his cars and slept in his houses while building his own career.
“Without those men I won’t be anywhere, Basorge, Julius, Ali, Tee-A, if I left anybody out forgive me,” he said.
