Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki, his predecessor Adams Oshiomhole and former governor of Delta State James Ibori were among Nigerians who commiserated with the family, friends and associates of the business mogul Idahosa Okunbo over his death at 63.
Okunbo died on Sunday in the United Kingdom where he had been receiving treatment for cancer.
In his condolence message, Mr Obaseki described Okunbo as a great son of the state as well as “a man of unparalleled energy and accomplishments”.
Also, Oshiomhole described the death of Okunbo as an irreplaceable loss to humanity.
Ibori posted a photo of the philanthropist on Instagram with the caption, “What a tragic loss! Capitano! Obovwie!”
Meanwhile the family of the late Okunbo headed by Tinyan Okunbo said in a statement that burial plans would be announced to the public.
