Ibori’s daughter, El-Rufai’s son named House committee chairmen

Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas on Thursday announced the 134 standing committees.

Bello El-Rufai, son of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai, and Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, daughter of former Delta State governor James Ibori were named chairmen of standing committees.

While Ibori’s daughter was named chairman, committee on Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), El-Rufai’s son was announced chairman, committee on banking regulations.

Former Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase; former House leader, Alhassan Doguwa; Yusuf Gagdi, Mukhtar Betara also emerged as chairmen of committees.

Ikenga Ugochinyere emerged as the chairman of petroleum resources (downstream) while Doguwa emerged as the chairman of petroleum resources (upstream).

Kqabir Rurum emerged as the chairman, committee on aviation, while Abdulmumini Jibrin got chairman, committee on foreign affairs.

Abubakar Bichi, who was committee chairman on works in the ninth assembly, is now the chairman on appropriations.

Betara, who headed the committee on appropriations in the ninth House now heads the committee on Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Yusuf Gagdi retained the chairmanship of committee on navy. Leke Abejide also retained chairmanship of committee on customs and excise.
