Businesswoman and former chairman of First Bank of Nigeria Ltd Ibukun Awosika on Thursday attended the book launch of the ex-governor of Lagos State and former minister of works, power and Housing Babatunde Fashola.
The book titled Nigerian Public Discourse: The Interplay of Empirical Evidence and Hyperbole was launched on Thursday at Eko Hotels, Lagos.
Speaking at the presentation, Mrs Awosika said, “I tell you one thing that is clear to me: first, the courage to raise the issues. But I have known him (Fashola) since we were kids. So, I am not surprised he could do that, and also a few people that have the integrity and character, to have the courage to raise the issues and expect them to be taken seriously.

“However, having read through the book, one thing that I am grateful for is that the (panel) discussants are from the generation that is 70 per cent of this nation. So, it’s their problem – in many ways, because they have much longer time to live with the issues that we are discussing.”
Awosika pointed out the need for the conversation to continue beyond the publication of the book.
There was also a panel discussion by Tolu Ogulesi, Toyosi Akerele-Ogunsiji and Adesuwa Giwa-Osagie anchored by Terfa.
Dignitaries at the event include President Bola Tinubu represented by his chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila; Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Obafemi Hamzat; and traditional rulers.
