Singer Ice Prince has arrived at the Ajah magistrate court for the commencement of his trial for alleged assault against police officers in Lagos state.
Ice Prince born Panshak Zamani was arrested by the Lagos police command on September 2.
The 35-year-old is being tried on a three-count charge bordering on assault, obstructing a policeman from carrying out its statutory duties, and abduction.
The court had earlier granted him bail in the sum of N500,000 and asked him to provide two sureties.
At the time, the court also ordered his remand at the Ikoyi correctional facility until he meets the bail conditions.
Police spokesperson Benjamin Hundeyin had disclosed that the rapper was arrested for driving without license plates.
Hundeyin claimed Ice Prince assaulted and threatened to throw an officer in his car into the river.
Hundeyin added that said the police are in possession of video evidence of the incident but would not release it.
“For those asking for video evidence, yes we have it. And no, we won’t release it. A very close ally of his has seen it. It will be presented to the presiding magistrate as part of our evidence,” he wrote in Twitter.
