The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has interrogated a former minister of labour and employment Chris Ngige over alleged contract irregularities and job racketeering at the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF) during his tenure.
Ngige was minister during the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari from 2015 to 2023.
Ngige, a former governor of Anambra State, spent over five hours with ICPC investigators on Wednesday responding to probing questions about the awarding of certain contracts, reports PUNCH.
A source was quoted as saying Ngige was also grilled on the “e-NSITF which he got approval from FEC.”
Spokesman for the ICPC Demola Bakare said the ex-minister was released after interrogation.
“He was invited and interrogated on some issues and was released to go,” Bakare said.
The ICPC previously summoned several top officials of the NSITF for questioning regarding a N47 million gratuity paid to the immediate past managing director Maureen Allagoa while she was still in service.
