Oludemilade Martin Alejo, popularly known as Ycee, has expressed the desire to get on the All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) stage come November to entertain the audience.
Speaking with Qed.ng shortly after the announcement of Lagos as host city of the 2016 edition of the music fest, the 23-year-old rapper said, “When the nominees for the award is ready that is when they will know about the performance but if I am privileged to be asked to perform, I definitely will. I will if I am given the chance to perform.”
On his expectation for the awards, he said “AFRIMA is going to be one to look out for because I think this is the last time it is going to be held in Nigeria. I think it is going to be great because AFRIMA always does it big all the time.”
He also disclosed that his album should be ready for release by September.
“It should be out in a matter of weeks. Some time at the beginning of September it is going to drop. From evaluation it has eight tracks, eight new songs.”
Omo Alhaji, as he is famously called, shot into limelight in 2015 after he released the single ‘Condo’ featuring Patoranking.
His biggest single, ‘Jagaban’, was also released in 2015.
He earned six nominations including Best Collaboration of The Year at the Nigeria Entertainment Awards and Best Artiste in African Pop at AFRIMA 2015 All Africa Music Awards,
Ycee beat Pepenazi, Baseone, Humblesmith and Koker to win the award for Rookie of the Year at the 2015 Headies.
