Actor and movie producer Kevin Ikeduba has condemned the exploitation of actors within the film industry.
In a recent interview with Hip TV’s Trending, Kevin stated that he would rather die than compromise his integrity by casting unqualified actors in exchange for sex.
The movie star voiced his frustration with the rampant unprofessionalism plaguing the industry, emphasising that his dedication to his craft drives him to uphold high standards.
“The movie industry, the entertainment world is very big. What works for A may not work for B. Kevin, as people know, would rather die instead of giving a girl a role for sex.
“I am very passionate about what I do. So most times, when I meet mediocre people on set, it hurts me. I will never do that,” he declared.
Actress Linda Osifo, who was also a guest on the show, shared her perspective on the matter.
“I’ve been an actress for 10 years, and I’ve had my experiences. I must say it’s about your intention and what you, as an individual, want to do. It’s not even about the industry, but life in general. Life will test you,” Osifo said, emphasising that how one handles these tests is what truly matters.
She further expressed her belief that Nollywood has evolved to prioritise merit. “Gone are the days when you had to give something in order to receive something,” she added, reflecting her optimism about the industry’s progress.
In another clip from the interview, Kevin revealed a surprising alternative career path. When asked by the host Pascal what he would be doing if he weren’t an actor, he responded, “I would be a drug baron if I wasn’t an actor.”
